Move over, IrishTenor
I think I just fell in love a little bit, with this:
X = T + E
In plain language, this means that an individual's observed score (X) is comprised of what their true score (T) would be and some amount of random measurement error (E).
In the words of my measurement prof, TheItemWriter:
Classical test theory is a model based on the idea that observations made through any process are not absolute or perfect. The model gives us a way to understand the role of error, its sources, and ways to estimate its impact on our scores and interpretations.
Beautiful. Absolutely fucking beautiful.

I revoke your posting privileges until you say something funny.
It's long established what a stats nerd you are. I'm going to be cursing you all day for putting an equation in my head. Math makes my head hurt!

Please tell me this isn't the first time you've seen this equation. Even I knew it.

Of course I've seen it before. I just wanted to post it to emphasize how sweet I think classical test theory really is.

I think it's official. I need to make an emergency trip to the cities and take you out for a drink or two or three...

THIS is why you should've come down for homecoming. Everything else seems so dull after surviving it...
